THE LONE WARRIOIR
Innovative teaching is not just difficult but it costs too.
Your Innovative approach will work against the inertia of tradition and culture.
The free flowing stereotypical teaching methodology prevailing in the market of entire education industry gets hurt.
But believe me, once u are into it, you don't enjoy anything else.
Just win the " fear of freedom"
It takes a huge quantum of audacity to innovate and successfully implement.
From organizations to classrooms, you will always face resistance for acceptance.
A revolution as I say, can occur in a being and not in a crowd. And every revolution costs dear to the revolutionary.
So, if you are looking to innovate and beautify the world of education , you need to be as brave as possible. And above all you need to have a vision that you know the world will trust and understand some years and centuries down the line.
I will give an example, i was teaching mathematics in a renowned school of my city. On day one of my job, i gave the following instructions to my learners:
1. Bring whatever notebook you find, as a mathematics notebook.
2. The cover is not necessary but the work inside the notebook is.
3. Use any ink of any color except RED so that my work is visible to you.
4. The dirtier the notebook, the cleaner the math.
5. No separate rough notebook, only one notebook for everything thats done in the class , given as homework or anything else.
6. No prescibed textbook, buy different books for reference and practice.
7. And lastly, don't let me proceed in the class if your doubt is not dead.
Thats all.
Just after a week.
The coordinator ( The Academic Coordinator) called me.
Lemme recall her words..
"You are spoiling the decorum that I have set. You are making the students wrought and wayward . You are working against the protocols i have set for the school's academics.
What next ?
The next day i had some parents in the school who came to thank me for being there in that school.
But they had no idea that they won't find me again in the same school.
As i had resigned that morning and had to take classes for that one last day.
At least i had the pleasure of showing something new to others, especially other young teachers.
